‘Sojourn’

This card is about rest, and shelter along the way. Life is in essence a caravanserai, an endless travel, a wandering walkabout, never arriving and never leaving, just an ongoing, footprints in the sand. The Sojourn card is about carving out times and places of retreat, rest, relaxation to rejuvenate.

This card reminds us of the balance of things, where travel needs camp, effort needs resting, awakeness needs sleep, movement needs pause. There is also an underlying aspect of gratefulness to this card, for the protection of shelter, the nourishment of slumber, the quiet of night. It is also a time of reflection, of story, of song, a relaxation only possible from the travels of the long day before, and knowing that the refresh creates the movement into the next day to come.
