‘Child’

‘The Child Enthroned’
By Thomas Cooper Gotch (1854 – 1931 British)

This card is about honoring the qualities of a child, of being childlike, open, curious, uninhibited, playful, innocent and such. The Child card reminds us that in the full cycle of life, where we start as a child, so do we end up again in later age. It also reminds us of the magical qualities that surrounds a child and how they see and interact with their world, a world of amazement, of open wonder, imagination and possibility. It is notable that the wisest of us often have a childlike attitude and approach to their lives and existence, one of simple acceptance, and delight in that simplicity, and humor in simply being. This card calls one to remember childhood, to allow the disciplines and confinements of age to drop away, to replace knowing with question, openness and curiousity, to be more childlike, to see with a child’s eyes.
