‘Rabbit’

‘The Rabbit’
by John Anster Fitzgerald (1819 – 1906 English)

Rabbit, Rabbit,
say it out loud,
once in the morning,
again in the evening,
so dreams may come true.

This card is about wishes and dreams coming true. The practice is that upon waking on the first day of a month, say ‘Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit’ aloud to ensure good luck for the rest of it. It must be the first words spoken that month to have its strongest magical effect.

Rabbits symbolize luck, good fortune and prosperity. They also indicate fertility, agility and intuition along with quick thinking and adaptability. In Chinese culture, rabbits symbolize beauty, elegance and compassion. In ancient Egyptian belief rabbits were associated with magic and the moon. Native american cultures associate rabbits with fertility, abundance, rain and the ability to communicate with the spirit world. Paganistic beliefs associate rabbits with transformation, and the ability to journey into the unknown and discovering hidden truths. In dreams rabbits can mean new beginnings, escape if running away, and happiness or contentment if running towards one. Finally, rabbits make good companions, for travel, for companionship, for adventure. Aligning with your rabbit nature opens one’s life to multiple good values and creates a natural environment for good luck to manifest and magic to happen.
