‘Queen Maev’

The queen is a strong expression of the feminine, along with the empress, princess and mistress cards. The queen card indicates power and wisdom, a potent combination. It also points to the inner throne deep within, a sacrosanct place of strength, resolve, understanding, compassion and royalty. The Queen is also about feminine maturity manifesting itself in quiet confidence, self-awareness and influence, and uncompromised self-esteem. This card reminds us that at the root of things, she stands with you, in truth, in love, in protection, in grace.

They say, that Queen Maev is buried in modern day Sligo, Ireland under a mound of stones atop a large hill which oversees the landscape of the city settlement. It is said she was buried standing upright, with her hands resting atop her sword, gazing out as protection over all she sees.
