‘Nymph’
‘Nymphs’
by Arthur Rackam (1867 – 1939 English)
Nymphs are utterly natural beings, nature herself taking form. There are water nymphs of all kinds, and forest and tree nymphs, and mountain and meadow nymphs, and celestial and underworld nymphs, and more. They usually present as young maidens, of an ethereal beauty, and quiet beingness. Nymphs are the spirit of a place, taking body with the elements of their surroundings, whether water or wood or air. The nymph card is about sensitivity and awareness, how everything is alive, how waters and hills and gardens and trees all have lives which can take embodiment, to share, to enchant, to heal, to play, to sing. They call to your nature, your natural being, to be with them.
