‘Cinderella’
‘Cinderella’s Slippers’
by Walford Graham Robertson (1866 – 1948 British)
This card is about the revealing of one’s true or authentic self. The story of Cinderella is about the virtues of being a good person, and how that may, or may not be rewarded, and that sometimes an outside person or influence such as a ‘fairy godmother’ needs to get involved to bring things right. The underlying morals of the story is about the virtues of kindness towards all, forgiving the trespasses of others doing wrong, and never letting bad things ruin your heart. The key to understanding this card is recognizing that doing right is not necessarily enough to be rewarded, but there are greater forces beyond ourselves that may recognize one’s true self, and can sometimes intervene on our behalf because of those virtues.
May fairy godmother,
watch over you always,
may she share her magic,
so that you find your true self,
which is her truest wish of all.
