‘Change’

‘The Frog Prince’
by Ernst Payer (1868 – 1937 German)
Published  (c 1910)

The Change card is about that which never changes, change itself. It is about the evolution of everything, the meeting of opposites, the dynamics of energy . This card is about the constant transformation of the elements, from air to water, from earth to fire, the cycles of seasons, winter turning to spring, summer into fall,, the circle of life, birth to growth to release. It is also about the surprise of changes, how one thing can become another, where impossibility becomes possible, the unexpected becomes something new. To meditate on change, is to relax one’s hold on the present, to allow movement and growth, to find balance between grip and let go. Change refreshes, change renews, change transforms.

That the frog can become the prince, is a life lesson that reminds one, that nothing except change itself is fixed forever, that change comes in all ways and forms, as magic, as consequence, as randomness, as reaction, as dreams come true, and so many more ways, that anything can happen. As the saying goes, ‘we never step in the same river twice’ so is this life, never to be repeated, ever moving on in ever new and mysterious ways. May you find flow in the way of water, surrender in the way of heart, peace in the way of soul.
