‘Griffin’
‘The Griffin’
by Henry Fuseli (1741–1825 Swiss / English)
This Griffin card is about protection and guardianship. This card reminds us of our internal strength to be found, to be called upon to protect that which is most valued, most cherished, most loved. The griffin is part eagle, king of the birds, and part lion, king of the beasts, formidable in its physical, a combination of strength, agility and fearlessness. It is also an expression of and life form of magic, as dragon, as unicorn, as harpy. As a creature, the griffin can and will defend one’s treasures of the heart, spirit and body. Remember this creature lies deep within, in slumber but once woken, will not rest until all threat has been vanquished, honor restored, injustice set right. And it is aligned with you, as if part of you as you are part of it, with shared spirit, common heart, and wildness within.
