About Attracting Garden Fairies

Below is a list of things you can do for attracting fairies, but be careful what you wish for. Garden fairies are relatively harmless, other fairies can be more troublesome or sometimes wonderful to have around, its all a bit random.
Fairies are very elemental, so love nature. To attract garden fairies try these things.
Add a water element, a fountain or birdbath, or misting. A fountain works well because it also adds a little sound, sort of musical to fairies, gurgling, splashing or a gentle swishing. A still bowl of water also can act as a mirror. Fairies can be quite self-absorbed, so mirrors can be quite captivating to them. A well placed small mirror in some corner can work well.
Sprinkle some shiny things around, polished stones, beads, glass, coins, jewelry, things like that. A hide and seek approach is a good way to approach this. Crystals are a must, but not too many, as their energies can overwhelm the environment. Other minerals or rocks they like are agate, quartz and amethyst and opals. And they particularly like gold, real gold or gold colored things, not sure why but there seems to be some natural attraction, not that they need it, but something to do with the law of abundance.
Flowers, all kinds, pretty much every kind, but here are some of the so called favorites. They really like lavender or purple colors like periwinkle, flax or blue morning glories, but yellow too, and pink and white like woodruff and daisies, daisies are big time. Columbine too, lots of columbines. I think you can see the direction of things here. Other flower suggestions might be primrose, petunias and pansies, and lilies and irises, cowslips too. And lily of the valleys, alyssum, sea thrift and snap dragons too. A good rule of thumb is if butterflies like it, it’s a good bet for fairies. They have a lot in common.
Ferns are a favorite too, in particular of course, Fairy Ferns. Mosses are really good, and of course Irish Moss is a favorite. Ivys, all kinds. And herbs like thyme, dill, a little basil or mint, not too much because of their strong fragrances, If you have room for a tree, then go with hawthorn, fig or apple. And last and first, honeysuckle, lots and lots of honeysuckle, lots.
You can try to build a fairy house too, but this is hit or miss. Make it as natural as possible, some shelter out of the rain or mist, or sun. Keep it in the back of the garden,, somewhat hidden, nothing too manufactured, even of lean-to type construction might be really appealing over something more constructed. Remember fairies are natural…
You can also build a shrine of some sort, which works surprisingly well, sort of a one stop shopping for shiny things, trinkets, beads, coins, the stuff they like to take anyways. Keep it understated, nothing too garish or oversized. I think like abundance, a shrine expresses a certain respect, or reverence. That matters a lot, even to garden fairies, let alone the fae.
Now to attract something more than garden fairies, stronger fae presences, there’s a few things you can do around your house, but one also needs to cultivate an internal garden. Start with going quiet, create a peacefulness around yourself, meditate, drink tea next to your garden, wait. Buy some honey and place some real gold around the house, some hidden corner. Wait. Invite the fairy sisters, Love, Beauty, Peace, Honesty, Respect into your personal inner shrine, keep quiet, nurture yourself, and wait. Buy more honey. Fae can visit in many ways, sometimes they just pass through, one time for a moment or a day, just hanging around, like butterflies. Others might circle back around, visit again and again, revealing themselves in different ways. If things go missing, consider it a test of sorts about whether your generosity is genuine. And remember what they take they also can give. Sometimes a fae will stay indefinitely but remain hidden, but fill your home with their presence like fragrance or a general feeling of warmth or health or lovingness. Sometimes there is a bit of friction, but I think it has to do more with a fae clashing with something, values, tolerances, could be anything, maybe a person, pet, place, or the way you treat yourself, what you say, little white lies or something, could be anything, air conditioning, wall paint color, music or outside noise. They’re all different, so no one rule works here, but it is best to assume if they show up, that it is for the best, good things, that they want to help, give or take a gift, or at least have a pleasant visit. Remember there are a few golden rules about dealing with the fae, never lie, focus on aesthetics, respect, honor and gratefulness. And it ok to appeal to their vanities a little, but just a little, everyone likes to hear they are beautiful, especially fairies and even the fae..
