Bravery, Humility, Wisdom, Honesty, Respect…

Words to live by…

I’ve long thought on, meditated on the impact of words, and the values they carry or express, how they are used, and how they can influence one’s life. In particular, I’ve focused on what I term ‘The Noble Values’ – words that indicate the evolved principles, the higher values of life, words such as Love, as Peace, as Truth – words, values I sometimes think of as the ‘Flowering’ of life, referring to the way they can bring life to blossom.

Over time, I’ve also come to appreciate how surrounding oneself with certain words, keeping them close as reminders, as inspirations, by choosing one’s words carefully, one can enhance, enrich. deepen, nourish one’s life. These words, the Noble Values,  invite one to be more mindful, to remember, to evolve towards higher thought and action that enhance life, enrich the experience of living. By living closer to the Noble Values, life is simply better – Honor over Shame, Truth over Lie, Love over Hate, Beauty over Ugly, Courage over Fear.

Of Goddesses and Fairies

‘A Classical Beauty’
by Léon François Comerre
(1850–1916 French)

Also over time, I’ve come to personify a selected collection of words as goddesses and fairies – the Goddess of Truth, the Goddess of Compassion, the Fairy Love, the Fairy Beauty, to name a few. And as suggestion of that personification, I have attached various artworks and created the Faery Fae collection of cards, with their poetic hints, suggestive art and signature framing and presentation.

The Faery Fae cards are Goddess cards, Devotion cards, meant as remembrances, meditations, to be kept close for support, encouragement. They are meant to remind one of the greater vibrations, frequencies of certain words – Peace, Empathy, Honesty… as said but worth repeating, words to live by. These words indicate ways, paths that make life better, deepen the soul, nourish the heart., These words are fingers pointing to the grandeur of the full moon, the blossom of life, how to better live the life. The cards are the vehicles, the messages are the sustenance, the nectar.

As such, there are different ways to work with these cards, invite the various goddesses and fairies into one’s life, and the messages they bring, the songs they sing. For instance, as example, the Fairy Beauty can bring her gift of warm awareness, share her loving energy, the way she sees and feels, her vision, her sensitivity. Or the Goddess Peace can offer her quiet understanding, her deep conviction, her refuge and care. And these Fairy Goddesses can enter or influence one’s life in different ways, such as anchor, or guiding light, or simply friend – as described below.

As Anchor…

The Fairy Beauty, as all of the goddesses in their ways, can keep one tethered, keeping one from wandering too far, losing the way, reminding one to come home. She can remind you of the beauty in the world which can sometimes be overlooked, forgotten, to seek it out, to choose beauty over the thousand distractions of the mud of life. She can pull one back from falling too far, keeping to the trail, constantly reminding, reassuring one that there is always light, always color, always love, and to return to the world of living, of joy, of sacredness. She will hold you, onto you,  keeping you from being lost to the drift of tides, the dark of night. Always she is saying, I am beautiful, you are beautiful, life is beautiful, and by doing so, keep one grounded to earth, anchored in sea.

Such are the ways the Fairy Goddesses can act as anchors, rooting you to their beings, to their messages, with their siren songs and poetry, the thousand ways they will hold one to their will. They will call you home, bring one present, stand firm in their power without compromise, apology, weakness nor fear.

As Guiding Star…

The Fairy Goddesses can also act as guides, showing the way by a thousand signs, hints and tricks. They can act as a fairy godmother, or as instruments of the Fates, working their wonders behind the scenes, in dream, magic or secret. They can also inspire one to certain direction, by their light and warmth. Instead of Anchor, they encourage breaking free towards new horizons, to embrace the journey forward, letting go the past, seeking future.

As Guide, the Fairy Goddesses light the way, inspire the heart, dispel fear and encourage movement. They give confidence to change, encouragement towards growth, and inspire one to follow their lead, and by doing so, to follow one’s heart.

As Friend…

‘Madonna of the Lilies (1905)’

And thirdly, the Fairies, the Goddesses, names I use interchangeably, with their message and being, can simply act as friend, happy to sit with one, doing nothing, sharing the warmth of loving closeness. This is the role of the Anam Cara, the ‘soul friend’ described by the Celtic scholar and mystic John O’Donohue. The gentle presence of the Anam Cara, the Fairy Goddess as Friend, is all about sharing, intimacy, reassurance and rest. This way of the Fairy Friend is about simply being close, to their magical and healing presence, to oneself and one’s surroundings. In that space there is the gathering of energies, emotional, spiritual, physical, to carry on, to take that next step – but to take as long as needed, there is no hurry, or as the Irish say, ‘in your own time’.

More actively, the Fairy Friend can also fill one, act as a channel, entering one’s heart, body and soul. It is an intimacy of energies, a mixing of being, filling one from within with loving beingness. It is like a watering, a nourishing. This is a deep friendship, a deep trusting, a deep sharing which can cleanse and heal like no other. And during and after their visit within, there is left the fragrance of love, and peace.

However the interaction, passive or engaged, Fairy Friends give the message of growth, change, but also the gift of awareness that the blossom is an unfolding, the day is long and there is time. As friend, a Fairy Goddess will simply be with one, with nowhere to go, at home in the present, sharing that while there are times to reach and run, there are also times to sit, rest and be. As friend they are happy to simply share your being, and watch with you, the grass growing by itself.

And Remember…

Regardless of the messenger, a fairy, or goddess, or you as meditator, or the method of anchor, guide, friend, channel or simple understanding, the message is the nectar. The Fairy Bliss is about bringing you bliss, the Goddess Light is about giving you light. Inviting these values, holding close their words, remembering their timeless worth, and accepting the gifts of the messengers… life aligns, new paths appear, and the journey becomes the magic it is meant to be.
