About Mind Fairies…

by Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836 – 1911 French)
The contemporary series ‘The Winx Saga’ introduces a couple of newer classes, or subclasses of fairies, including mind fairies and light fairies. Mind fairies are a type of sylph, or air fairy, which emphasize the intellect and psychic aspects. Mind fairies can do number of mental magics such as reading thoughts, memories, dreams and emotions. Moreover, they can visit (known as mind walking) one’s psyche and change, hide or introduce thoughts and memories in a person’s mind or memory, and by doing so may affect one’s moods and movements. Other characteristics of a mind fairy is telepathic communication, strong intuition, premonition and clairvoyancy.

Mind fairies can also be strong empaths, with a pronounced ability to read the emotional state or language of someone near them, and also can absorb, channel or deflect that emotion towards or away from themselves. They are also able to extend that channelling (or sharing) to physical pain of someone near, and can help alleviate both body and mental pain, as mind over matter.
As such, mind fairies have a certain power over people’s moods, temperament and general feelings, including as mentioned, physical pain, a magic known as pathokinesis. Mind fairies are also able to protect their psychic being and others from outside mental trespass. Because they can be very empathetic to those around themselves, they are also often very protective of themselves as a defense from taking too much energy in around them.

Queen Mab, the ‘Deliverer of Dreams’ might be considered as part of this subclass of air fairies, and a prime example of a mind fairy. Her special magic is watching another’s thoughts and steering dreams their way. She is able to enter dreams, a rare magic she possesses, and there bring birth to new dreams, hence the name the ‘midwife of dreams’. Mab herself, is also a prankster, known for her trickery and irreverent sense of humor, and can sometimes leave her visitor confused, disoriented and unsure in the morning wakening, to her humor.
Working with, aligning with a mind fairy can yield certain benefits. First the empathetic nature of mind fairies can be soothing and healing, as they can share one’s emotions which introduces both relief and non verbal understanding. They can also manipulate dreams and memories in ways that are both enjoyable and health focused. More so mind fairies can neutralize negative energies that are present in one’s psyche, thoughts and imaginations, shielding one from outside influences and strengthening one’s ability to resist unwanted negativities. They can be a very good friend to have around for mental health and well being, although one may have to bear and suffer some of the prankster type stuff similar to Queen Mab’s antics, given the lack of or foreign morals of fairies.
